Mrs. Robin (Poem)

Writer's picture: RhiannaRhianna

I thought of you today –

A robin landed at my feet,

tilted its little brown head up

as if to say

hello

and flew high into the sky

I

closed

my

eyes

and when I opened them,

you were gone

I promised myself

that I would stop looking for you

in

everything

your smile

in the faces of the pansies in the garden

your laugh

in the call of the nestling sparrows

your waltzing legs

in the swaying reeds of the river beds

yet,

there I stood

unable to watch

as

Mrs Robin

flew away

from me

stretching her wings

into the Autumn sky

reaching for the heavens

without even a caw

goodbye
