Another Storm (Poem)
I run into the garden
chasing the tenacious breath of the wind
that upon exhaling
uproots trees
tears children from their sleep
as they climb into windows
to witness the arrival of a storm
named after somebody I once knew
the first raindrop splatters against my cheek
and I have only a moment
to savour the hostile droplet
raising hairs on my skin
as your touch once did
before the sky bursts open
unleashing a cascade of Arctic rainfall
that soaks my clothes
my hair, my body
chilling me into a state of paralysis
but I don’t fight
not anymore
I bathe in it
welcoming the ice that takes hold of my bones
and the fury that infiltrates my heart
